Amazing Spiderman Review

First time writing a movie review in like forever but this was a show that was worth the time. For those who have yet to watch it ….. dun worry, I am not gonna spoil it for ya.
I am a huge spiderman fan and have seen the last 3 with Tobey MacGuire as Peter Parker but something seems missing. In fact, I was around long enough to watch the Children’s Television Workshop version in which the action moves from frame to frame in a comicbook like manner. Corny by today’s standards but fun to watch as a kid.
This new offering is my favorite Spiderman movie to date. Thank God, Colombia Pictures decided to freshen up the franchise instead of going ahead with Spiderman 4 which would have been stale and dragging it’s feet to it’s grave. I do not want to be disrespectful but Tobey’s portrayal of Peter Parker was one dimensional as he tends to play up the nerd level abit too much for comfort. Andrew’s Garfield’s version is more updated and of an awkward teen with abandonment issues after his parents disappeared while he was still a child. This is a Darker, Gloomier Spiderman that is more grounded in reality than the first 3 which was more HOLLYWOOD. It revisits the origin story and instead of following the original comicbook storyline, it has a refreshing and believable take on the issue. This time, it was Peter and not Spiderman who was at fault. Shall not give too much away but I rather like how this film doesn’t just jump right into the action but focuses on the human aspects and development of the character of Peter Parker and rushing into the swinging around in Spandex part. Don’t get me wrong, I watched this in 3D and the swinging sequences are awesome but Marc Webb’s storytelling fleshes out the red and blue suit very well and it is for this reason that I find it highly enjoyable. Even webcrawling and webswinging makes more sense with the short sequences ……. the attention to details ……
The choice of having The Lizard as the Villain also seems to make more sense in terms of plot over the long run. While not giving too much away…… I can safely say that there will be a sequel to this.
In short, this Spiderman Movie is more for the adult fanboys who grew up with the comicbook. The main difference between Marvel and DC has always been the human element. When you have characters like Superman and Wonderwoman running around, it is easy to idealize and see them as Gods Among Men. Marvel in comparison is more concerned about the human qualities of the people behind the mask.
The Villain for the next movie? Well, they did not give away much with the trailer at the end of the movie so I will just go ahead with what I WANNA SEE…….. it’s not the Goblins, not Venom or Carnage etc etc….. but Ben Reilly…… you might ask Ben Who ? Well, it’s supposed to be Spiderman’s Clone……. he’s part of the storyline of the Clone Wars Saga in the comics…… not really a very popular series but there is so great story to be told with a fresh character like this…… someone nobody will expect……. and potential to do a spinoff for the Scarlet Spider Franchise. Woots !
