Known as the Chanel of China, the Couturier from Asian Couture Federation does not disappoint. With elaborate designs and exquisite craftsmanship, the gowns on display are of the highest degree of quality and luxury. The runway show itself is a very grand and majestic experience. Having shown at Couture Week 2012, the audience all knew that this would be the definitive show and was thus one of the most sort after ticket for the entire Fashion Week for 2013. Despite extra rows of seats, the amount of Guo Pei fans was so overwhelming that many had to stand. At the Media Pit, it was so packed that I had to make due with squeezing under a tripod to get shots of the creations by the great designer from Beijing.

The show started abit late due to the elaborate hairstyling and makeup but once it started, everyone felt awe struck by the intricate and opulent nature of her collections. Her show in 2012 was oriental with a global charm and her 2013 show moved beyond that to add to it a rather Middle Eastern charm while marrying it with some European Flair while maintaing aspects of her Chinese roots that make her one of the most sort after Asian Designer. The overall experience of a GuoPei show is never rushed as the models strutted down the runway in some 5 inch footwear that is richly ornamented with blink and precious stones thus allowing the audience to really fully emerge themselves in the experience of being transported to the land of A Thousand and Two Arabian Nights ~~~ A Guo Pei Show is and will forever be about an experience one will not forget, leaving the runway feeling complete and inspired.

First up, I apologise for the lack of updates during the last 2 months. I have been extremely busy and was getting ready for 2014 but I could not stay away as there was so much great material lying on my harddisk .

Fide Fashion Week 2013 was THE event to look out for as the lineup of international designers was extremely exciting.  From French Couturiers like Julien Fournie , Alexis Mabille and Stephane Rolland to their Asian counterparts like Guopei ,Yumi Katsura and Michael Cinco, it was indeed the apex of great fashion as piece after piece of couture dresses went down the runway to the awe of those in attendance.

Today’s feature is on Singapore’s own Frederick Lee and the fact that I decided to put him first on my coverage shows how impressed I was with it. The music and the lighting for extremely dramatic but was a perfect fit for the collection on display. When the lights dimmed and Asian Couture Federation Chairman Emily Hwang strutted down the runway with two saytrs in tow, you know you are in for a magical evening. In the build up to this show, the extremely talented designer had teased the audience with photos appearing on facebook and twitter, adding anticipation and excitement to the closing day of this year’s fashion weeks and he does not disappoint. Personally , I am attracted to all things dark and spooky and the theme of this collection being centred around Death and Destruction really captured my attention. Magical creatures like the Chimera with it’s golden horns and awe-inspiring wingspan captivated all our imaginations. The Dark Queen seduces you with the sense of mortality and danger. Her minions not allowed to see or feel, carries out her tasks with ruthless efficiency ~~~~ there was such a sense of storytelling to it that it has gone beyond the platform of a fashion show and lunged into your inner psyche. It was like that mythical journey that you take as a kid when your parents tell you your first fairy tale. From the flow of the fabric to the use of feathers, dark colours , precious stones and the wonderful craftsmanship…… it has transported the audience to a land of surreal fantasy ~~~

Fashion is Fun again ~~~

Diet Butcher Slim Skin was one of the most sort after ticket in the MFW Calender at Marina Bay Sands in April 2012. Set on Day 3, ( Japanese night ) of Music and Men’s Fashion Week , the head designer Hisashi Fukatami not only impressed with his unique cuts and masculine flamboyance but also with his Dj skills. Collaborating with Japanese musical genius H Zett M , Mr Fukatami provided live runway music that had the heart beating wildly. No longer just a visual treat but an entire fashion experience that surronds you like a bubble like fantasy. The outfits on display were bold with intricate details but not to the extend of being loud. A truly Awesome Fashion Experience.

Resurrection @ Music & Men’s Fashion Week 2012

Korean night – the second night of Music and Men’s Fashion Week 2012 was highly anticipated with Korean Megastar Se7en performing at the end of the night. Packed with fans and fashion fanatics, the Marina Bay Sands expo hall was extremely lively that April night. Resurrection – the 3rd show of the night was more my style.Black leather jackets with zippers, long trenchcoats with tassels …… punkish with a hard edge . The tempo was one of rockish edge as the models strutted the runway with style and attitude. Accessories includes big black shades and earphones with spikes added to the feel. A brand that I will be looking forward to….. hopefully they will bring it into Singapore.

Alexis Mabille Feature at Music & Men’s Fashion Week 2012

The French Couturier who showed for The Inaugural Women’s Fashion Week 2011 was the only designer for the event in October 2011 to return to Marina Bay Sands Singapore for Men’s Fashion Week 2012. Well received for his animal prints gowns, use of fur and feathers and cuts that brings out the women’s silhouette like figure, Mr Alexis Mabille showcased his view on what Menswear should be like.  The hall for Men’s Fashion Week 2012 on the fourth day had the ladies really excited as models strutted down the runway in Men’s Underwear and the Preta-porter Collection of the Frenchman’s design. The brand known as : L’HOM d’Alexis Mabille was one that had a easy on the eye gentlemanly charm while not missing out on the aspect of fun. The one time Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent designer has now gained international recognition with his gorgeous gowns, well cut suits and off course his trademark mega watt smile and bowtie.
