First up, I apologise for the lack of updates during the last 2 months. I have been extremely busy and was getting ready for 2014 but I could not stay away as there was so much great material lying on my harddisk .
Fide Fashion Week 2013 was THE event to look out for as the lineup of international designers was extremely exciting. From French Couturiers like Julien Fournie , Alexis Mabille and Stephane Rolland to their Asian counterparts like Guopei ,Yumi Katsura and Michael Cinco, it was indeed the apex of great fashion as piece after piece of couture dresses went down the runway to the awe of those in attendance.
Today’s feature is on Singapore’s own Frederick Lee and the fact that I decided to put him first on my coverage shows how impressed I was with it. The music and the lighting for extremely dramatic but was a perfect fit for the collection on display. When the lights dimmed and Asian Couture Federation Chairman Emily Hwang strutted down the runway with two saytrs in tow, you know you are in for a magical evening. In the build up to this show, the extremely talented designer had teased the audience with photos appearing on facebook and twitter, adding anticipation and excitement to the closing day of this year’s fashion weeks and he does not disappoint. Personally , I am attracted to all things dark and spooky and the theme of this collection being centred around Death and Destruction really captured my attention. Magical creatures like the Chimera with it’s golden horns and awe-inspiring wingspan captivated all our imaginations. The Dark Queen seduces you with the sense of mortality and danger. Her minions not allowed to see or feel, carries out her tasks with ruthless efficiency ~~~~ there was such a sense of storytelling to it that it has gone beyond the platform of a fashion show and lunged into your inner psyche. It was like that mythical journey that you take as a kid when your parents tell you your first fairy tale. From the flow of the fabric to the use of feathers, dark colours , precious stones and the wonderful craftsmanship…… it has transported the audience to a land of surreal fantasy ~~~
Fashion is Fun again ~~~
